PNG keeps decoded pixel precision and transparency. High-bit-depth inputs use 16-bit PNG. Output may be larger than the JXL.

Image direction is corrected. The output color profile is included; extra file information is removed.

A few things to know

This tool converts decoded pixels. It does not restore an original JPG from a reversible JXL archive.

Color descriptions whose SDR range cannot be determined, including custom ICC profiles, are not supported yet. This can affect valid SDR images; it does not mean the file is damaged.

Floating-point images, associated transparency and extra channels are also not supported yet. Unsupported files are reported instead of being silently flattened or converted to SDR.

A large image may need substantial memory. Cancel discards the conversion result. Stopping processing and releasing memory may take a moment. Decoding shows a stage indicator; row counts appear only while writing your PNG or JPG.
